In his retirement with
his mind still firmly set on ways to improve our
environment William Jevens developed the leading
recyclable hanger for Dry Cleaners known as The
Dormer Hanger which is manufactured in Castlebellingham.
William Jevens joined the
Smallwares Button Factory in County Louth, Castlebellingham,
Ireland in the early 1960 as General Manager before
becoming Managing Director for many years. He
built the factory up with the help of his wife
Phyllis R.I.P. and his family from the old Brewery
building to what it is today Dormer Ireland
Limited & its sister factory Smallwares
Limited.

Descriptions from Lewis's Topographical Dictionary
of Ireland, 1837. CASTLE-BELLINGHAM, a post-town,
in the parish of GERNONSTOWN, barony of ARDEE, county
of LOUTH, and province of LEINSTER, 6 miles (S.
S. E.) from Dundalk, and 34 (N. by W.) from Dublin
; containing 115 houses and 611 inhabitants. This
town, which is situated on the river Glyde, and
on the mail coach road from Dublin to Belfast, takes
its name from a castle belonging to the Bellingham
family, which was burnt by the forces of Jas. II.
in their retreat before the army of King William,
previously to the battle of the Boyne."

In the 1830's
in the old Barony of Ardee snuggled in the townland
of Castlebellingham in County Louth, Lewis describes
"an extensive brewery", in which the celebrated
Castle-Bellingham ale is made, and a large malt-house,
both belonging to J. Woolsey, Esq., giving employment
to about 70 persons.See our factory in this old
advertisement. It has been well preserved and looks
almost the same today but with modern technology

Established in Castlebellingham
in the late thirties, it was the first such factory
in Ireland. From the 1960's William Jevens built
up the business and today it is a family run company
